Client Relationships Intern, Interac Corp.

At Interac, I learned quickly that relationships are the center of the payments ecosystem. Every transaction, whether between a financial institution, an acquirer, or a middleware partner, begins and ends with trust.

My role as a Client Relationships Intern was a combination of research, relationship-building, and strategy, but at its core, it was about adopting a client-first mindset. That perspective changed the way I saw business decisions: every choice, big or small, had to be measured against how it supported clients, partners, and the payments ecosystem as a whole.

The Story

During my internship at Interac, I supported partnerships across financial institutions, middleware providers, and acquirers, contributing to ecosystem research and client engagement. I began on the Regional & Challenger Banks team, working alongside Lauren Teggart and Isabel Lee, where I learned how strategy and empathy work hand in hand in client relationships.

Through my performance and initiative, I was extended to join the Acquirers & TD team under Celia Campbell, supporting high-profile accounts such as JP Morgan Chase and Square, Inc., while assisting adjacent managers with large-scale projects for TD Bank.

Within my first two months, I also stepped in as the primary out-of-office contact for a team member, managing incoming requests and ensuring seamless partner support. Beyond day-to-day operations, I helped plan and deliver a client market event, strengthening relationships through meaningful engagement beyond business. The experience taught me that great partnerships are built on consistency, curiosity, and trust, all values that continue to guide how I work today.
